California Speedway was first on the West Coast tour, where the winds blew as high as 25 mph at times. Monday morning was Reed's initial visit to the two-mile oval, but he was a quick study as he maneuvered his Discount Tire Dodge to respectable speeds throughout the two day practice. "This track is huge" was the most common response from Reed when asked how he liked the Fontana, California track. "Our car is good here and I am looking forward to the race later in February". The #41 team left with smiles on their faces as they headed to Las Vegas.
Las Vegas was another new track for Reed, but having veteran crew chief Brian Pattie made the transition smooth. "Vegas is flat and I have competed on tracks similar to Vegas and I think I can adapt pretty fast to these new places". The DT team brought two cars and tested both extensively, making changes throughout the two day test, marking steady improvements. The Dodge noses are visibly different in 2005 and the teams are adjusting to the effects of this body compared to previous entries.
Next stop Daytona, see you there!
