Mid-Race Accident Eliminates Sorenson and Discount Tire Team at Daytona
After starting sixth for the Winn-Dixie 250 at Daytona International Speedway, Reed Sorenson and the Discount Tire slipped back to 17th before pitting under green on lap 49 to make adjustments to an extremely loose racecar.  After the round of green-flag stops, the No. 41 Dodge cycled out in 10th.  The first caution flag flew on lap 55 and shortly after the restart, on lap 60, Sorenson was swept up in a multi-car accident that ended his day.

“That’s just how our luck has been this year,” Sorenson said after emerging from the infield car center.  “It’s just restrictor-plate racing.  There were a lot of lapped cars upfront after the restart and I just got myself wedged in between a couple of cars coming out of (Turn) four.  We started bouncing off of each other and around we went.  I probably shouldn’t have put myself in that position.

“It was really slick out there tonight and the car was a bear to drive.  Everyone was battling loose it seemed like.  We adjusted on the car and got it better.  I feel bad for everyone on the Discount Tire team because we had a pretty good car tonight.  It was definitely a top-five car.”

Sorenson dropped two positions to 20th in the driver standings and the team fell one position to 21st in the owner standings.  The Busch Series teams head to Chicagoland Speedway next for USG Durock 300 on July 8.  The race is scheduled to start at 4 p.m. ET and will broadcast live on TNT (TV) and MRN (Radio).
