Reed Sorenson and the No. 41 Wrigley’s Juicy Fruit® team were working on improving their top-30 starting position in the early running of the Carquest Auto Parts 300 Saturday night, when a tight-handling race car escaped from Sorenson’s grip and went slamming into the outside wall of the 1.5-mile track. Sorenson pulled his No. 41 Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates (CGRFS) Dodge into the garage for repairs, and then rejoined the field more than 50 laps later to soon discover his car wasn’t going to be able to get back up to pace and therefore forced the Wrigley’s Juicy Fruit driver and team to say good night way too early in 42nd place.
Sorenson’s teammate Juan Pablo Montoya had a tough night, as well, finishing just ahead of him in 40th place.
The No. 41 CGRFS Busch team is now 29th in the overall NASCAR Busch Series standings, just 87 points outside the top 25.
Sorenson and the Wrigley’s Juicy Fruit team head to Dover International Speedway next weekend for the running of the Dover 200 on Saturday, June 2. The race is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. ET and will broadcast live on ESPN2, MRN radio and Sirius Satellite Radio channel 128.
Reed Soreson Quotes on Lowe's: “The car was real tight through the corner and experiencing severe front end chatter. I was doing all I could to keep it on the track, but it just got away from me there. The guys on the Wrigley’s Juicy Fruit team did a good job putting it back together but the car was even more of a hand full after that so we unfortunately had to call it quits way too early here tonight.”
