SORENSON AND TEAM FINISH 22ND AT DAYTONA INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY
Reed Sorenson drove his Polaroid Dodge to a 22nd-place finish at Daytona International Speedway (DIS) Saturday night in the halfway mark of the 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) season.
The No. 41 team rolled off 39th for the 400-mile event. In the early laps of competition, Sorenson radioed he was pleased with the handling of his car as he maneuvered his Dodge through the field. The first of 11 caution flags waved on lap 19 and Sorenson drove his
Polaroid Dodge onto pit road for a slight air pressure
adjustment, four tires and fuel.
Throughout the event, Sorenson continued to work his
way through the pack, running as high as 17th in the
closing laps. During a green-white-checkered finish,
Sorenson was involved in the final caution of lap 163,
relegating him to a 22nd-place finish.
The No. 41 Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates
(CGRFS) team slipped one position in the overall
NSCS owner standings, now marked in 32nd. With a
current tally of 1,475, the team sits 354 points out of
the top 20 and 25 points away from 30th.
The Saturday night action continues for a second straight weekend as the Sprint Cup Series heads to Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Ill. Live coverage of the Lifelock.com 400 will be broadcast on TNT beginning at 6:30 p.m. EDT. The green flag is scheduled to drop at 8 p.m. EDT. Radio coverage of the race will be simulcast live on the Motor Racing Network (MRN).
Reed comes home 22nd at Daytona.
