SORENSON POSTS TOP-20 FINISH AT THE BRICKYARD
Reed Sorenson and the No. 41 Target Team survived the tire wear issues in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) event at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway Sunday afternoon with a 17th-place finish.  The top-20 finish advanced the Target team to 29th in NSCS Owner points.

Sorenson started the 400-mile event in the 22nd position.
Within the first few laps, a caution flag waved due to a
wreck in turn two, allowing the field to pit for fresh tires.
This pit stopped allowed NASCAR to closely monitor
the tires on all 43 cars.  With tire wear remaining a major
concern, NASCAR scheduled a “competition caution” every
10-12 laps throughout the entire 160-lap event to ensure
safety.

The race saw a total of 11 cautions, six of which were
issued by NASCAR as competition cautions.  Sorenson
elected to pit on all but two of the cautions, taking four
tires and fuel throughout majority of the race.  Crew Chief
Donnie Wingo and Sorenson both agreed to only take two
tires on the last caution to gain track position.

As a result of the day's events, Sorenson finished the race on the lead lap in the 17th position.  The top-20 finish allowed the CGRFS team to move to 29th in the NSCS Owner points, with a post-Indy total of 1675, 218 points out of 25th.  Sorenson remains 31st in the championship driver standings, with a total of 1,608 points.

The next event on the Sprint Cup schedule is the Pennsylvania 500 at Pocono Raceway next Sunday.  The race begins at 2 p.m. EDT with coverage provided
