Sorenson’s Top-10 Start Spoiled by Early-Run Oil Leak
Reed Sorenson and the No.41 Target Team started ninth for the Dickies 500 at Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday afternoon. After running in the top 15, Sorenson suffered an oil leak on lap 51 during green-flag pit stops resulting in an uphill battle for the remainder of the race.

The No.41 Target Team started the 500-mile event from the ninth position. Sorenson raced inside the top 15 for the first 50 laps. On lap 51, Sorenson entered pit road for the first green-flag pit stops for a track bar adjustment, four tires and fuel. Sorenson quickly noticed his Dodge was leaking oil. Bringing out the first caution, Sorenson returned to pit road for the No.41 crew to repair the oil leak. The Target team restarted 43rd, three laps down on lap 63.
Sorenson patiently raced the field for the remainder of the 334-lap event. On lap 127 and 128, Sorenson was marked as the fastest car on the track. Noting he had a top 15 race car, Sorenson continued to turn fast laps and pass other lapped traffic. The Target
Team went on to finish 37th, several laps down from the leader. The team dropped one position in the NASCAR Sprint Cup owner points to 32nd.
Next week Sorenson and team head to Phoenix International Raceway for the Checker O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 on November 9, 2008. Race coverage will air live on the ABC television network at 3 p.m. EST and will be broadcast live on MRN Radio beginning at 2:45 p.m. EST.
