Last June, Reed Sorenson and the No. 41 Target Dodge team finished 26th after starting 42nd in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at the "Monster Mile.” The weekend started Friday with NSCS first practice and qualifying. Sorenson earned a 42nd-place starting spot for the event after suffering a cut tire on his qualifying lap. With final practice shorten due to rain, Sorenson and crew had to work on the handling of the car throughout the 400-lap event.

Last weekend: NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) qualifying was cancelled for the eighth time this season due to inclement weather in the area. NASCAR set the field based on Sprint Cup Owners points. Therefore, Sorenson rolled off 30th for the Sylvania 300. The 22-year-old worked his way through the field within several laps. While Sorenson fought to find grip on the track, he maintained a position within the top 25. By lap 181, the Target Dodge went one lap down to the race leader while running in the 25th spot. The second half of the 300-lap event saw several cautions. Sorenson kept his nose clean and worked his way to cross the finish line 22nd.
In the Points: With the 22nd-place finish last week, the No. 41 CGRFS entry remains 30th in the series' owner standings with 2,168 points, 318 markers behind 25th-place.
