Sorenson Heads to Gateway
Gateway Rewind: Reed Sorenson will return this weekend to Gateway International Raceway (GIR) behind the wheel of the No. 40 Fastenal Dodge to defend his 2007 victory. Last year, Sorenson and the No. 41 Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates (CGRFS) NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) team started on the outside pole at Gateway and then proceeded to lead 95 circuits of the 200-lap event to win the race. The victory marked Sorenson’s second win at GIR with his first visit to its Victory Circle back in July 2005. He grabbed the win in his first NNS start at the 1.25-mile oval and just like he did in 2007, won the race from the outside pole position.
History in the Making?: Sorenson is one among only two other
drivers who have won twice in the NNS race at Gateway. The only
other drivers are Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Kevin Harvick. If Sorenson
can bring home a victory this weekend, then he will hold the most
wins at GIR by a NASCAR Nationwide driver.
First for Fastenal: This weekend, Sorenson will wear Fastenal
blue for the first time this season when he gets behind the wheel
of No. 40 Fastenal Dodge. He is a member of the Fastenal Team
of drivers which also includes Bryan Clauson, Dario Franchitti,
Kevin Hamlin and Scott Pruett.
Ganassi’s 100th: Scott Dixon's win in the IndyCar Series Nashville
Superspeedway race this past Saturday night marked the 100th
overall win for Chip Ganassi Racing Teams, Inc. It also marks
Dixon's fourth of the season and sixth for Team Target over the
first 11 races of 2008. In all, Ganassi's teams have made it to
victory lane 11 times this year, two shy of their record 13 of 2007.
