Preview Lowe's: 600 Miles no Problem for Reed
100% for the 600: Sorenson has completed all laps of competition (800) in his two starts for the 600-mile event at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. The 22-year-old has two top 10 finishes in the NSCS Spring race, finishing fourth last May.
Crazy Fact: Reed raced a total of 3,851.238 miles in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series so far this year, which equals 2,567.5 laps around Lowe’s Motor Speedway!
Indy 500 connection: Being 1-2 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) is nothing new for Chip Ganassi Racing, Inc. (CGR). The last race a CGR car has competed in at the speedway occurred at last year’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Allstate 400 at the Brickyard when Reed Sorenson and Juan Pablo Montoya saw a 1-2 combination with a pole starting position and second place start/finish position, respectively. Now Target teammates, Dixon and Weldon also sit 1-2 for the Indy 500 this weekend.
In the points: The Target Team slipped two positions to 32nd in the NSCS owner standings after posting a 32nd-place finish at Darlington Raceway two weeks ago. Sorenson is 256 points out of 20th and 394 out of 12th, the final cut-off to the Chase.
Target Fast Fact: Target had given $200 million dollars to communities as part of the Take Charge of Education Program. 107,547 School have received checks from Target since April 1997 through this program.
Last Weekend: The No. 41 Target Dodge ran as high as third in the All-Star Showdown. Sorenson had his sights set for the two transfer spots (first and second) when another car forced Sorenson to make contact with the wall resulting in a 12th-place finish.
No. 41 Target Dodge (NSCS): Chassis #634. The No. 41 team has not raced this chassis; however teammate Juan Pablo Montoya raced this car to a 15th-place finish at Bristol Motor Speedway in March. Additionally, this chassis tested at Lowe’s Motor Speedway earlier this month.
