STATESVILLE, N.C. — Reed Sorenson drives the No. 43 Valvoline Dodge at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend. The 23-year-old Peachtree City, Ga. native is 28th in points but can gain significant spots in the final three races of the 2009 season.
REED SORENSON- “There isn’t a lot of strategy, we’re just going Texas and run as well as we can. We want to use these final three races to put us in the top 25. We’d like to go even higher if we can. You can really boost your season with a great run or two in these final three races. We’re racing as hard now as we were at the start of the season.
There’s still a lot of racing left.”
· Sunday marks Sorenson’s 143rd Sprint Cup start.
· Sorenson owns seven starts at Texas with his best finish coming in Spring 2006 when he started and finished 13th. He led two laps in Spring 2007.
· Richard Petty never raced at Texas Motor Speedway but he did race at Texas World Speedway in College Station. He won three times and recorded six top-five finishes in eight starts.
· Air Force Gen. William M. Frasier III will sit on the No. 43 pit box this weekend as a guest of Sorenson and the Petty team.
