No. 43 Air Force Dodge Driver Reed Sorenson visits his home track of Atlanta Motor Speedway on Sunday Sept. 6. It’s part of a busy weekend for Sorenson that includes his charity golf tournament, a trip to the season-opening college football game and hopefully a good finish at the track’s first ever scheduled night race. Before that, the Peachtree City, Ga. native and Woodward Academy graduate plans to enjoy the final off-weekend of the 2009 season
OFF WEEKEND— “I’m headed to the beach. I plan to take some time off and relax and get ready for this final stretch run of the season. There’s a lot of racing left. I want to get away a few days and come back strong for the final third of the season.”
ATLANTA— “It’s my home track and you always want to do well in front of your friends and family. I’ve had some success there before and there’s no reason why we can’t run that well again this weekend. (Crew Chief) Sammy (Johns) and I are working really well. It’s going to be a fun weekend with the golf tournament on Friday and I’m going to try to go to the Alabama-Virginia Tech game Saturday night in the (Georgia) Dome. I’d love to cap all that off with a good run Sunday night. I think the race fans will love the night racing. I don’t know why, but everything in NASCAR just seems so much faster and more colorful at night.”
