Earlier  this  season: When we  visited Atlanta  Motor Speedway in  March,  both Red Bull Toyota’s raced to top-10 finishes, the third best combined finish for the company.  Scott  Speed crossed the line  in 10th ,  and  Brian  Vickers  in seventh. It was Vickers’ third top-10 finish in a row at Atlanta and fifth in the past six races. He’s driven to top-10 finishes in half of his 14 starts at the 1.54-mile quad-oval, making it easy to see why he calls AMS one of his favorite tracks.

Hometown  Kids:  Atlanta  Motor Speedway  is  the  home  track for No. 83 driver Reed Sorenson, who grew up in nearby Peachtree City, Ga. At the age of six, he began  his  racing  career,  dominating  the  Quarter  Midget  and  Legends  ranks around the Southeast. Upon high school graduation from Woodward Academy in 1998, he was on his way to NASCAR at age 18. Also hailing from Georgia is No. 83 rear tire carrier Dwayne Moore, born in Griffin.

History at AMS:  Scott Speed has four Sprint Cup and two Truck Series starts at Atlanta  Motor  Speedway.  In  the  NSCS  garage,  Speed  has  one  top-10  finish (Spring  ’10).   In  his two  NCWTS  starts, Speed’s  best finish  of  fifth came in Fall ‘08.  In  nine  Cup  starts,  Reed  Sorenson  owns  one  top-five  and  three  top-10 finishes, with his best finish of third coming in the Fall 2007.

Golfing  for  Charity: The  Fourth  Annual  Reed Sorenson  Charity  Golf  Classic is scheduled to take place on Friday, September 3, at the Crystal Lake Golf Course and  Country  Club  in  Hampton,  Ga.    All  proceeds  will  benefit  the  Speedway Children’s Charities  in  Atlanta.  Golfers  can  expect  to play  with  several  NASCAR drivers,  including  Sorenson  and  his  Red  Bull  teammate  Scott  Speed.  For  more information, check out www.reedsorenson.com.
